The backdrop of this mission patch is the American flag, which proudly represents Orbital ATK's ninth Commercial Resupply Services (CRS) mission to deliver supplies to the International Space Station. The name of the mission, OA-9, is featured in the center of the patch with an enlarged number nine and nine yellow stars. Along the right side of the patch is the Antares rocket which will lift off from the Mid Atlantic Regional Spaceport's (MARS) pad, launching the Cygnus spacecraft into orbit. Cygnus, depicted on the left side of the patch, will berth and deliver provisions and science experiments to the astronaut crew on the ISS. This is the first mission to use the new C2V2 radio, depicted by the radio waves emitting signals from the spacecraft to the ISS. The name of the program is prominently displayed at the top of the patch and our customer and cargo delivery partner are shown in the center. This patch was designed by Orbital ATK employee, Joseph F. Robinette.
